CAPM Exam Preparation Course

The CAPM® Exam Preparation course is designed for individuals seeking to gain more responsibility or add project management skills into their current role. The CAPM certification offers recognition to practitioners who are interested or are just starting a career in project management, as well as project team members who wish to demonstrate their project management knowledge.

Individuals who contribute specialized skills to a project team can benefit from this certification by aligning their work with project managers. Individuals who do not have project experience but are interested in project management can also benefit from this certification by demonstrating their professional knowledge.

This certification indicates knowledge of common practices used by an associate-level project manager as outlined in the Examination Content Outline (ECO). PMI aligns its process with certification industry best practices, such as those found within A Guide
to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) – Seventh Edition.

Following the completion of the course participants should be able to:

  • Understand the various project life cycles and processes
  • Understand project management planning and project roles & responsibilities
  • Determine how to follow and execute planned strategies or frameworks
  • Understand the common problem-solving tools and techniques and project management plan schedule
  • Know when it is appropriate to use a predictive, plan-based approach or an adaptive approach
  • Demonstrate an understanding of business analysis (BA) roles and responsibilities
  • Plan project iterations, prepare and execute task management steps
  • Determine how to conduct stakeholder communication
  • Determine how to gather requirements
  • Demonstrate an understanding of product roadmaps
  • Pass the CAPM Exam

  • Professionals that would like to manage larger projects
  • All professionals involved in projects on a regular basis and that wish to prepare themselves for the CAPM® exam.

Upon successful completion of the exam and following confirmation of the results, the participants will receive a unique, secure and auditable electronic certificate from PMI.

It is desirable, but not essential, that participants have some work-experience on projects.

Exam Prerequisites

Before you apply for the exam, participant should make sure to meet both of the following sets of qualifications:

  • Secondary diploma (high school diploma/global equivalent)
  • 23 hours of project management education/training

The following course material is included for this training:

  • Access to PMI Choice – PMI official digital platform

The PMI Choice platform includes:
– Student Manual: electronic version of the course material
– Project Manager Checklist: step-by-step procedures and reference material for concepts covered in class
– Spotlight Videos: short videos (3-6 minutes) that enhance the classroom learning experience
– Quizzes
– PMI Events: to view information about upcoming PMI events
– Locker: a place to store any files or content created and used during class

  • 1 year of PMI membership

The membership includes the free download of the PMBOK® Guide* and other PMI Standards and Guides (including the Agile Practice Guide).

*For classroom courses, a paper version of the PMBOK is included.
