ITIL Service (Version 5)

ITIL Service (Version 5) Course

ITIL Service (Version 5) teaches you how to design, run and improve services so that people get a reliable experience every day. It covers the full picture: how a service is planned, delivered, supported and improved, and how to show it is worth what it costs.

It is one of the four modules in the ITIL Managing Professional (Version 5) path, alongside ITIL Product, ITIL Experience and ITIL Transformation. To take it you need any ITIL 4 certification or ITIL Foundation (Version 5).

What the course covers:

  • The eight stages of the ITIL Product and Service Lifecycle: Discover, Design, Acquire, Build, Transition,
  • Operate, Deliver and Support
  • How incident, request, problem, change and continual improvement work together, rather than as separate silos
  • Where automation and AI can make services more reliable and more resilient
  • How to connect service decisions to business objectives and to what customers actually experience

It is particularly useful if your organisation is modernising the way it runs services, or moving towards product-led and AI-enabled ways of working.

Following the completion of the course participants should be able to:

  • Explain what digital products and services are, in ITIL terms
  • Work through the eight stages of the ITIL Product and Service Lifecycle
  • Manage a service from design through to continual improvement
  • Join up incident, request, problem, change and improvement work to make services more reliable
  • Use automation to reduce effort and increase resilience
  • Show how service work connects to business objectives and customer outcomes
  • Explain how ITIL sits alongside other frameworks you already use and pass the ITIL Service (Version 5) exam.

This course is designed for:

  • Service management and service delivery professionals
  • Product and digital delivery roles
  • Architecture and service design roles
  • Software and application development teams

The ITIL Service (Version 5) exam is 40 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes. It is open book, and you need 70% to pass.

  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Questions: 40
  • Format: multiple choice
  • Pass mark: 70%, which means 28 correct answers out of 40
  • Conditions: open book

Upon successful completion of the exam and following confirmation of the results, the participants will receive a unique, secure and auditable electronic certificate from PeopleCert.

It is desirable, but not essential, that participants have some experience in IT service management.

Participants need to hold any ITIL 4 certification, or the ITIL Foundation (Version 5) certification
