QRP International has a long experience in organising training for project, programme and portfolio managers. Over the years, QRP has supported many professionals and their organisations in setting up and running a PMO. For this edition, we will meet in Brussels, creating an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences and connect with other PMO professionals in person.

ABOUT THE USER GROUP

Following training is the first step toward introducing new habits and ways of working. Translating that inspiration into practical action is the next critical step.

However, in standard training programmes, this stage is rarely included as part of the course, leaving participants to navigate the implementation journey on their own. Successfully applying new approaches can therefore be challenging, especially since PMOs are often run by a small number of professionals – or even a single person – within large organisations.

This user group aims to address this need by bringing together professionals with similar backgrounds and profiles to exchange experiences and discuss specific topics related to PMO management. During each edition, experts and participants will explore relevant PMO challenges, combining practical examples, knowledge sharing and interactive exercises.

DISCUSSION TOPICS NOVEMBER 2026

The topic of this edition of our PMO User Group will be: How to Manage a Portfolio in Disruptive Times. Joining us to speak and share his knowledge will be Jan Bovend’aerde, Agile IT Delivery Manager and consultant specialising in agile transformation and practical implementation.

Portfolio Management has become increasingly important as organisations face tighter budgets and need to ensure that investments are directed towards the initiatives that create the most value. At the same time, organisations are dealing with continuous disruption caused by factors such as AI, geopolitical developments and rapidly changing business priorities.

These constant changes often lead to shifting budgets, changing project priorities and increased pressure on delivery teams. This raises an important question: how can organisations remain flexible while ensuring that the right initiatives continue to receive attention and investment?

During this session, we will explore the role of agile (or adaptive) portfolio management in helping organisations respond effectively to uncertainty and continuous change. Agile Portfolio Management does not replace traditional portfolio management, but introduces greater flexibility, continuous prioritisation and stronger alignment between strategy, investments and execution.

The session will cover three key themes:

  • From idea to execution
  • Prioritisation in a changing environment
  • The role of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

Instead of our usual discussion format, this edition will include an interactive prioritisation exercise. Participants will work in groups and apply the WSJF prioritisation technique directly to a practical case, allowing them to experience how Lean Portfolio Management principles can support decision-making in complex environments.
