    This white paper describes the synergies between ITIL best practices and DevOps (development and operations) practices. ITIL focuses on the lifecycle of services, from inception to retirement, and provides best-practice guidance for IT service management (ITSM). The ITIL service lifecycle includes the development and operation of services. DevOps is a movement, inspired by lean methodology and agile development practices, which aims to achieve seamless workflow for product synchronization between all possible organizational functions – especially development and operations groups.
