Tailoring PRINCE2: applying a universal method to a specific situation

In this white paper, our trainer and expert Niels Van Bemmelen, explains the importance of Tailoring within PRINCE2 2017, focusing on Tailoring from the organization’s standard. “Tailoring is adapting a method or process to suit the situation in which it will be used.” (PRINCE2 manual). In this case, tailoring the PRINCE2 method to adapt it to the situation where it will be used. In response to this definition, I have often heard the question “And why do we need to tailor PRINCE2? Isn’t it a universal project management method that can be used for all kinds of projects?” Now, that universal aspect of PRINCE2 is exactly what makes that PRINCE2 can be applied to any project.
