After talking about what role Star Wars characters would play in an IT company, in this article we suggest to some Marvel characters what certification they should get to improve their skills both in battle and in everyday life!
PRINCE2® is the most widely used project management method in the world. Its strength is that it provides the essential information to enable professionals to successfully manage any type of project. Certainly for the young Peter Parker, who is still struggling to control his abilities, it would be very useful to learn a “product-based” method, i.e. one that would help him to focus on results and not just on organising activities. This would help him to have a set goal and to better control all the processes needed to achieve it.
“With great power comes great responsibility”, and certainly knowing how to manage one’s skills is a great asset!
Iron Man: PMP
PMP (Project Management Professional) is a globally recognised certification and a standard in the world of project management. Tony Stark is undoubtedly able to meet all the prerequisites required by the PMI (Project Management Institution) to be eligible for the PMP certification exam.
Obtaining this certification would help the “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist” to know all the areas of competence of a Project Manager and consequently to manage all the processes by organising the required actions.
After all the years Thor has been forced to suffer Loki’s pitfalls and adapt as much as possible to the sudden change of events. Surely an AgilePM certification could help him to cope better with all these unexpected events.
AgilePM is extremely useful in managing time-driven projects which frequently change in terms of work requirements and environment. In order to improve one’s skills and learn how to respond promptly to changes, the AgilePM certification would certainly be of great help to the future king of Asgard.
Black Widow: Change Management
Natasha Romanoff is undoubtedly one of the characters with the most turbulent past; surviving kidnapping, betrayal, arranged marriages and a thousand vicissitudes. Surely having a structured approach to Change Management could help her face new challenges and face them with a new awareness. Change management training would be a great support as it not only helps professionals to develop their skills in dealing with change, but it also helps them to implement change correctly and effectively. Besides, it also provides motivational support to accept change, which could help the Black Widow to improve her performance.
Captain America: ABC Scrum Master
The Scrum framework allows you to respond to complex and ever-changing problems by delivering products of the highest possible value while working productively and creatively. Surely by becoming a Scrum Master, Captain America will learn how to better manage his team (so as to avoid another Civil War) and guide them towards continuous improvement. In addition, Steve Rogers will certainly find himself in the three fundamental pillars of Scrum:
- Transparency: working honestly and collaborating with the team to achieve product/project success
- Inspection: the team must help each other and inspect the Scrum products and their progress to prevent problems and deviations
- Adaptation: the ability to adapt to changes
Hulk: ITIL 4
The ITIL® 4 (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification consists of a set of organisational capabilities that aim to create value for end customers in the form of services. Primarily, ITIL is a support to organisations to unravel the new technological era by helping them towards the digital transformation process. Because of his skills, Bruce Banner is certainly the most suitable person to obtain this certification. It aligns perfectly with his role, helping him to combine practical skills in the world of IT with those of management. In fact, ITIL 4 straddles the organisational and technological aspects, helping professionals to integrate Agile, DevOps and digital transformation.
DevOps consists of a set of practices that emphasise collaboration between software developers and IT operations professionals. In this context, the DevOps Leader must be able to build an efficient team capable of using high technologies. He must play the role of facilitator, supporter and leader for the group in order to bring together all the potential and skills of the team members. Certainly, this certification would help Star-Lord to make the most of the potential of his fellow adventurers: the Guardians of the Galaxy are an extremely heterogeneous group, each with different skills, knowledge and dispositions, not easily reconciled. Therefore, learning not only a methodology, but a real working philosophy, could be extremely beneficial for the group.
